Shawn Viens is a Director and Director of Photography based in Vancouver and Nanaimo, British Columbia. With over twenty years of experience behind the camera, Shawn brings a cinematic eye and storyteller’s instinct to every project he takes on.

His work has carried him from the windswept deserts of Namibia to the vibrant coral reefs of Palau—capturing stories in some of the most remote and challenging environments on Earth. Whether directing a documentary, crafting a commercial, or operating a Steadicam on a high-energy production, Shawn’s focus is always on emotion, authenticity, and visual impact.

Over the years, he has built a diverse body of work as a director, cinematographer, underwater shooter, and motion-control time-lapse photographer. He thrives on collaboration and believes that great storytelling is as much about preparation and light as it is about connection and trust on set.
